Seven Azhar students arrested

Report of the Azhari Observatory for Rights and Freedoms on violations observed since the start of the study until the end of the second week at Al-Azhar University
The new academic year at Al-Azhar University has seen a great deal of violations against students and their rights to express their views, affecting university life, university independence, and students' rights and freedoms.
The study began with the arrest of 49 students during the first and second weeks, including 32 prisoners from inside the campus and 17 others from their homes. A number of students were arrested following activities organized by students against the coup. Police forces intervened to break up these demonstrations, which led to the arrest of a number of students, whether participants in the demonstration or non-participants, while the arrest of a number of other students from their homes
We would like to point out that the campus of Al-Azhar University has become a camp for the police forces. The university was invaded five times in different branches in violation of all academic principles and freedoms. The Ministry of Interior exaggerates the number of troops outside the university campus. At the same time, the university campus of the Cairo branch stormed all the gates simultaneously. It arrested two students and took them to the administration building. They also stormed the branch of Tafna, supervising the girls' branch twice in Cairo and assaulting two students. One of them was beaten by a police officer and the " his own A, and hit the other until she was bleeding from her mouth as a result of the injury in her face and finally the branch of the study where it was stormed and the arrest of 3 students.
At the same time, the students were not delivered from the administration of the university, where the university city remains closed until now in the direction of the students, with promises of the administration to open in the coming days, which led to the accumulation of students in front of the city on the first day of the study. The National University is requesting the delivery of pictures of the students written on their names while one of the students was dismissed in the first row of the Institute because of their participation in the demonstrations
In a unique case inside the prisons, snakes were found inside some of the dormitories held by al-Azhar students as a result of the burning of some trees by the prison administration.
The Observatory follows with great concern the status of public rights and freedoms and academic freedoms within Al-Azhar University and holds the university administration responsible for all the violations that occur to the students as there is no respect for human rights inside the university and we call on the National Council for Human Rights and all human rights organizations to pressure the government to stop these violations.
The observatory also issued two reports this week, one of them on the death penalty facing one of the students of Al-Azhar and the other about enforced disappearances in front of the students.
Due to the large number of violations occurring inside Al-Azhar University, the Azhar Observatory for Rights and Freedoms decided to publish a weekly report to monitor and document the violations occurring inside the university. The report covers the branches of Al-Azhar University in Cairo and the university regions and cities.
